The purpose of this article is to address the pollution / human immune system relationship. However, these are just some of my observations from when I grew up in an industrial city compared with some current health issues.
I grew up in a time where kids were always playing outside. Whether it was -10 or 110°F, in rain, snow, sleet, hail, thunderstorms, dirt, mud, etc., nearly all the kids were playing outside at one time or another.
Are today's youth and young adults more prone to illnesses and allergies because they are not exposed to as many environmental toxins as the kids were from 20-50 years ago? In short, possibly.
