During the mid-winter months, various cities throughout the Midwest host international auto shows. Attendees to these events can enjoy a number of activities and exhibits including concept/pre-production vehicles, antique cars, simulators, new car models and an array of entertainment.

The Chicago Auto Show

Chicago has played host to its annual automobile show for well over a century. This year's show will begin on Friday, February 12 and continue through Sunday, February 21. The cost for admission is $11 per adult, $7 per senior and $7 for children over the age of 7 (children under 7 get in for free). Discounts are available on specific days such as Women's Day (Tuesday, February 16) and Food Drive Days (Wednesday, February 17 through Friday, February 19). Along with numerous new car models, the show will feature concept cars, race cars, antiques and appearances from local television personalities.

The Chicago Auto Show will be held at the McCormick Convention Center located on the outskirts of downtown Chicago. There are numerous hotels within the immediate vicinity of the facility including the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place, the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and the Best Western Grant Park.

The Detroit Auto Show

The annual Detroit Auto Show (or North American International Auto Show) will open to the public on Saturday, January 16 and continue through Sunday, January 24. With all of the changes in the auto industry, this show is expected to be slightly smaller than years past. Nonetheless, it should still be a fun and educational experience for families and individuals alike. Some of the highlights of the show will be the unveiling of various new vehicles, introduction of concept cars and test driving of both hybrids and electrical cars (on an indoor track). Admission for adults is $12, seniors $6 and children $6 (that is for children over 6 years of age, younger children are admitted for free).
